Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rapids' Colin Clark and the New England Revolution's Kenny Mansally scored on each side of the half as the Major League Soccer clubs battled to a 1-1 draw at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in league action on Saturday.
The result pushed New England, which earned its first point in Colorado since 2004, within five points of the league-leading Columbus Crew in the Eastern table. Colorado now sits in the third-place tie with Real Salt Lake in the West with 31 points after 25 league fixtures.
The Rapids went up 1-0 just before the half, when Clark headed home a Terry Cooke service for his fourth goal of the season. Cooke sent in a long angled cross from the right wing that Clark nodded back across the face of goal and inside the far post, just past the reach of Revs' goalkeeper Matt Reis.
The lead was short-lived as second-half substitute Mansally scored five minutes after the break to tie the game at one. After defender Michael Parkhurst's long service into the area was deflected to Mansally, he chipped a shot over the onrushing Preston Burpo for his third goal of the season and first since May 11.
New England (12-7-6) hosts Columbus in a top-of-the-table clash next Saturday while Colorado (9-12-4) travels to take on the New York Red Bulls the same night in its next league fixture.
