MLS Game Summary - Kansas City at Houston

Final Score: Kansas City 1 - Houston 3

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Nate Jaqua scored two goals, Kei Kamara had two assists and Houston rolled over Kansas City, 3-1 on Sunday for its sixth win in its last seven Major League Soccer matches.

Houston (10-5-8), which also got a goal from Brad Davis, became the first team in the Western Conference to reach 10 wins - four teams in the East already had at least 10 - and opened a seven-point lead over Real Salt Lake.

Dynamo goalie Tony Caig came within minutes of his fourth shutout in six starts but Davy Arnaud scored in the 87th minute for Kansas City's lone goal. Caig was in goal because Pat Onstad was one of four regulars on international duty.

Kansas City (6-9-8) remained level with Toronto FC at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Wizards have just one win in their last eight matches, and have lost four straight on the road.

Houston grabbed the lead midway through the first half when Kamara set up Davis for the first goal of the match.

The Dynamo won the ball in midfield to spring Kamara down the left side. Kamara held possession into the penalty box, then passed back to Davis near the top of the area. Davis gave K.C. goalie Kevin Hartman no chance to make a save with a hard one-time shot into the upper-left corner for his third goal of the season.

Davis had a chance to add his second goal in the final five minutes of the half but after Kamara and Brian Mullan set up the play, Davis headed into the ground from just a few yards out and the ball bounced over the crossbar.

Houston made the most of its first chance in the second half, another goal set up by Kamara. He passed to Stuart Holden inside the area, and Holden then slid the ball to Jaqua.

Jaqua just had to drive the ball into the middle of the net to finish the quick passing combination. Jaqua's 54th-minute goal was also his third of the season.

Hartman made a great save on Kamara in the 64th minute, leaping to deflect the ball away from the upper-right corner.

Houston gave Hartman no chance to stop its next chance as Jaqua scored again in the 67th minute on a great finish from near the top of the area. Craig Waibel made the pass to Jaqua at the top of the area and he finished high to the near post for his fourth of the season.

Kansas City, which plays five of its final seven games at home, earned a little momentum for the stretch run when Arnaud stole the ball inside the box and beat Caig to the far post from close range in the 87th minute.

The Wizards will try to break out of their funk on Saturday when they host Los Angeles, which is winless in 11 straight.

Houston will have Onstad, Brian Ching, Ricardo Clark and Dwayne De Rosario back when it visits San Jose on Saturday in the first of a home-and-home series.
