MLS Game Summary - Toronto at Chivas USA

Final Score: Toronto FC 1 - Chivas USA 2

Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Chivas USA earned its first Major League Soccer victory since July 5 with a last second, come-from-behind 2-1 effort over Toronto FC at the Home Depot Center on Saturday night.

After the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw through 90-plus minutes of action, the Goats earned a corner kick late into second-half stoppage time. Sacha Kljestan took the chance, low into the box. After a dummy play gave Chivas USA forward Atiba Harris room to take a shot, he put it on goal and it squirted through the hands of TFC goalkeeper Greg Sutton for the game-winner.

With the win, Chivas USA jumps to third in the Western Conference table, taking sole possession of the final playoff spot with eight games to go. Toronto FC, on the other hand, stays deadlocked with the Kansas City Wizards in the Eastern Conference basement.

Toronto (7-10-5) scored the game's first goal when defender Jim Brennan streaked into the Goats' penalty area on the left side and fired a hard shot under the arm of goalkeeper Zach Thornton for the 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Less than a minute later Chivas USA (7-9-6) equalized when Alecko Eskandarian received a through-ball from Ante Razov behind the TFC defense after the ensuing kickoff. Once he got past the defense he went straight at goal and placed a shot through the legs of Sutton for his second goal of the season.

That was how the score stayed until Harris scored his third goal of the season in the 94th minute.

The two teams meet again next Saturday at BMO Field in Toronto in their next MLS fixtures.
