Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Last-place San Jose earned a stunning 4-0 victory over Eastern Conference power New England in a Major League Soccer fixture at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday .
Ronnie O'Brien led the home side with two goals and an assist, giving San Jose its first winning streak - two games - since its return to MLS this season.
Scott Sealy and Ryan Johnson scored the other two goals, Darren Huckerby added two assists, and goalkeeper Joe Cannon made six saves to earn the shutout, his seventh of the season.
Besides losing its second straight game for the first time this season, the Revolution suffered another big loss, an injury to star goalkeeper Matt Reis, who came out in the 55th minute with an adductor strain.
San Jose started the scoring early when Francisco Lima scooped a pass to O'Brien, who volleyed a shot home from the right side in the 11th minute.
Johnson scored the game's second goal, his team leading fourth, in the 71st minute. Sealy and O'Brien got assists on the play.
Sealy scored his first goal with San Jose since coming over in a trade from Kansas City just five minutes later when Huckerby streaked down the left wing, cut inside and passed across to Sealy, who was wide open at the top of the New England penalty area. Sealy then played a shot through Revs backup goalkeeper Doug Warren's legs for the 3-0 lead.
O'Brien added insult to injury with his second goal of the game in the 87th minute to close out the scoring.
The Earthquakes (5-9-6) will aim to continue their surge when they travel to Chivas USA next Saturday while New England (10-6-3) hosts D.C. United on Wednesday in its next league fixture.
