MLS Game Summary - Dallas at Columbus

Final Score: FC Dallas 1 - Columbus 2

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Crew used a big second half, led by two assists from Guillermo Barros Schelotto, to come back and beat FC Dallas, 2-1, in Major League Soccer action at Crew Stadium on Saturday.

After a sluggish start saw the home side down 1-0 at the break, Schelotto set up midfielders Brian Carroll and Brad Evans within a three-minute span just after the hour mark to lead his club to its 10th victory of the season.

Dallas' only goal came from the newly acquired Jeff Cunningham, who scored his 100th career MLS goal in his first start with the Hoops since coming over in a trade with Toronto FC last week.

The game started with Dallas taking the play to Columbus for the first 20 minutes or so. Hoops' star forward Kenny Cooper just missed the far post with a long-range shot in 15th minute for first legit chance for either team.

About a minute later Cooper teamed up with Cunningham in what was almost the game's first goal. Cooper controlled the ball on the left side and bent a perfect cross to the far post to Cunningham, who's header was cleared off the line by Columbus defender Chad Marshall.

Columbus started to gain some momentum about 25 minutes into the game and got its first shot on goal just a minute later. Alejandro Moreno crated the chance by crossing a ball from the left side to Schelotto, who took a cheeky touch around a defender and blasted a close-range shot on Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala. Sala was up to the task, however, making a strong reaction save with his right hand.

FC Dallas was finally able to get on the board 10 minutes before the first- half break on a great setup from defender Adrian Serioux. The feisty fullback streaked down the right side and torched Columbus left back Gino Pedula before playing a square cross on the ground to Cunningham at the top of the six. Cunningham made no mistake on the chance, beating Crew goalkeeper Will Hesmer and Marshall to the ball before slotting it into the back of the net for his historic 100th career MLS goal.

Cunningham becomes just the fourth player in the history of the league to reach the century mark in goals scored.

The Crew came out like a different club in the second half, however, as Dallas seemed content to just try and protect its lead.

Carroll got the equalizer in the 62nd minute - his first goal of the season - on a brilliant setup from Schelotto. Moreno controlled the ball on the left side and crossed to the Argentine veteran, who snapped a header back to Carroll making a run to fill the space behind the two forwards. Carroll then took a touch and fired a laser into the net past Sala to make it 1-1.

Three minutes later Evans got the game-winner on a free kick. Schelotto curled a cross from the left side into the box to Evans, who was making a near post run. Evans skipped a header past Sala and into the far post side netting to close out the scoring.

Columbus (10-6-4) hosts Real Salt Lake next Saturday in its next MLS fixture while the Hoops will aim to rebound at Kansas City the same day.
