Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo earned a 2-0 victory over the Columbus Crew at Robertson Stadium on Saturday night.
Brad Davis scored his second goal of the season early in the first half, Brian Ching scored his eighth just before the break, and goalkeeper Pat Onstad made three saves to earn the clean sheet to lead the Dynamo to their sixth victory of the season.
With the win, the Dynamo are unbeaten in five and move with a point of the Western Conference leading Real Salt Lake with a game in hand.
Davis gave the Dynamo a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute lead when he took a Brian Mullan pass and fired a laser into the upper left side of the net.
Half an hour later, Nate Jaqua controlled the ball in the middle of the Crew penalty area and passed to Ching, who fired past Will Hesmer to double the home side's lead.
The Crew (9-6-4), who remain in second in the East despite the loss, will try to get back in the win column when they host FC Dallas on Aug. 16 in their next league fixture while the Dynamo (6-4-8) host Real Salt Lake in a top-of- the-table clash the same night.
