MLS Game Summary - FC Dallas at New York

Final Score: FC Dallas 0 - Red Bull New York 1

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Kevin Goldthwaite scored the only goal as Red Bull New York spoiled Schellas Hyndman's debut as coach of FC Dallas on Saturday night with a 1-0 win at Giants Stadium.

New York (5-4-4), which tied the New England Revolution 1-1 on Wednesday, won for the second time in its last four Major League Soccer matches.

Dallas (4-6-4), which beat the Chicago Fire 1-0 last week, lost for the third time in its last four games and for the fifth time in its last eight.

Sinisa Ubiparipovic had two good shots for New York in the first 15 minutes but both were pushed wide by Dallas goalie Dario Sala. The Red Bulls took advantage of the second corner, though, to score their first goal.

Ubiparipovic swung the corner in from the left side and the ball drifted over Sala to Goldthwaite. He just had to nod the ball into the back of the net from just a step off the line for his second goal of the season in the 16th minute.

Goldthwaite left the game minutes later due to a problem with both hamstrings.

New York's John Wolyniec had one of the best scoring chances in the second half but Sala made the best of his six saves to keep the deficit at one goal.

Dallas was solid defensively even without starters Drew Moor and Adrian Serioux but couldn't crack New York's defense.

Dallas had just two shots on goal and N.Y. goalkeeper Jon Conway made two easy saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

The Red Bulls won without Juan Pablo Angel and Claudio Reyna - their designated players who both missed the game with injuries.

Hyndman was hired earlier this week to replace Steve Morrow, who was fired last month.

FC Dallas visits the Houston Dynamo on Thursday. New York visits Chivas USA on June 28.
