MLS Game Summary - Colorado at Toronto FC

Final Score: Colorado 1 - Toronto FC 3

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Rohan Ricketts scored his first two career goals in Major League Soccer to lead Toronto FC to a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night.

Danny Dichio added his team-high fifth goal as TFC remained undefeated at home this season and extended its unbeaten streak at BMO Field to nine games overall dating back to last season.

Toronto FC (6-4-2) has already matched its win total from last season, when the expansion club had the worst record in MLS.

"I've never had a two-goal game," Ricketts said. "I hope to score a few more goals from now on."

Rookie goalie Brian Edwards posted his second win for Toronto starting in place of Greg Sutton, who is one of five Reds on international duty.

Christian Gomez scored the lone goal for Colorado (5-7-0) to snap Toronto's run of not allowing a goal at home at 403 minutes. Toronto has surrendered just two goals in seven home games this year.

Dichio continued his recent scoring binge with his fourth goal in his last five games in the 37th minute. Colorado's Stephen Keel tried to clear a ball out of the penalty area with a header, but the weak effort sailed to Dichio at the top of the area.

Dichio, who led Toronto with six goals last season, volleyed the ball into the right side past Colorado goalie Preston Burpo.

Ricketts doubled the lead in the 58th minute off a long goal kick from Edwards. After bouncing off the turf, Ricketts played the ball down off his chest to set up a shot from just inside the area and drilled the ball inside the right post.

The English midfielder, who spent time with Arsenal early in his career, scored his second career goal eight minutes later. He took a pass from Dichio, turned and fired into the net from the top of the area.

"I thought for a spell around those goals that we played some of our best stuff this year," Toronto coach John Carver said.

Ricketts became the third TFC player to score two goals in a match this season, joining Dichio and Amado Guevara. The third goal also matched Toronto's highest total this season - TFC beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2.

Colorado, which struggled to create any offensive chances, finally scored when Gomez blasted a free kick into the left side of the net in the 81st minute. The only other team to score at Toronto this year was Red Bull New York.

"We got complacent, sloppy and lazy and I told them I wasn't happy with that. I wanted to keep a clean sheet," Carver said.

Toronto will try to extend its home winning streak on June 21 when it hosts the Kansas City Wizards. Colorado will try to bounce back June 21 when it hosts the Houston Dynamo.
