MLS Game Summary - New York at Houston

Final Score: Red Bull New York 0 - Houston 1

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Brian Ching scored the game's only goal in the 68th minute to lead the Houston Dynamo to a 1-0 win over Red Bull New York at Robertson Stadium on Saturday.

Houston was playing without a number of regulars, including goalkeeper Pat Onstad and midfielder Dwayne De Rosario, who were both away on international duty with Canada.

The Houston back line also had a few holes with Eddie Robinson missing the match due to suspension, while captain Wade Barrett was out with an injury.

Despite the absences, the Dynamo took advantage of a lackluster effort from New York and claimed its third win in five games.

Houston goalkeeper Tony Caig was hardly tested, making only three routine saves, but it was good enough to earn him his first MLS win and second career shutout.

A dull first half saw neither netminder tested, but the home side began to pick things up after the break.

Stuart Holden found the first good chance of the match in the 60th minute when his bicycle kick flew just over the crossbar. Ching followed up that effort four minutes later with a close-range header that forced a good save from New York keeper Jon Conway.

Brian Mullan then kept the pressure on two minutes later when he picked out Ching inside the box, only to have Conway make another great reaction stop from a few yards out.

The breakthrough finally came minutes later with a nice build up that culminated in Ching's third goal of the season.

Holden started the play by finding Geoff Cameron, who then quickly slid a pass to an open Ching at the top of the box. Ching then redirected the ball past a surprised Conway and New York was unable to muster any kind of attack over the remainder of the match.
