Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The New England Revolution seem to have found another diamond in the rough, with 2008 Supplemental draft pick Kheli Dube scoring his second game winner in as many games to lead the Revs to a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.
With the game knotted a zero in the closing minutes, Crew left back Ezra Hendrickson took down New England captain Steve Ralston in the penalty area, earning a penalty kick try for the visitors.
Shalrie Joseph, who doesn't have a goal yet this season for New England, stepped up to the spot and fired to the right side, but Crew goalkeeper Will Hesmer guessed right, diving to make the save before Dube fired the rebound past him to secure the road victory and his second goal of the season.
The win moves the Revs into a tie atop the Eastern Conference table with Columbus, which has a game in hand.
With the loss, Columbus' six-game unbeaten streak is snapped and its perfect 4-0 home record sees its first blemish of the season.
After slowing the game down to earn a scoreless draw at Toronto in its last Major League Soccer fixture last week, the Crew seemed content to earn the same result on Saturday.
The Crew only managed two shots on goal the entire game, with New England 'keeper Matt Reis robbing them with a save in the second half on one of the chances.
Columbus captain Frankie Hejduk drove up the right wing and crossed a ball into the New England penalty area in the 75th minute. Eddie Gaven snapped a header on goal, but Reis got a fingertip on the chance to knock it out of bounds.
New England, which is now on a three game winning streak, will look to continue its strong form as of late when it hosts Eastern Conference rival D.C. United on Thursday while Columbus will aim to start another winning streak at Chivas USA on May 31 in its next league fixture.
