MLS Game Summary - Los Angeles at FC Dallas

Final Score: Los Angeles 5 - FC Dallas 1

Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Edson Buddle had two of Los Angeles' four goals during a 14-minute stretch of the first half and completed his hat trick with a late goal to lead the Galaxy to a 5-1 victory over FC Dallas in Major League Soccer on Sunday.

Chris Klein also scored for L.A. during the stretch and the other goal was on an own goal created by MLS leading scorer Landon Donovan, who assisted on two of Buddle's goals to tie for the league lead in that category with five.

L.A. (3-3-2) snapped a two-match winless skid and won for just the second time in its last six games to move into second in the Western Conference.

Dominic Oduro scored in the second half for Dallas (2-3-3), which is winless in four straight and dropped to fourth in the Western Conference.

FC Dallas had a few good opportunities to open the scoring, but leading scorer Kenny Cooper had a shot saved and another go just wide 30 seconds apart. Andre Rocha followed with a long shot that L.A. goalie Steve Cronin tipped over the bar and Drew Moor headed just wide of the left post. All four shots were in a two-minute span.

L.A. responded with a dominant 14-minute stretch started by Klein's first goal of the year in the 25th minute. He took a pass from Brandon McDonald and went into the area before sending a shot through Dallas goalie Dario Sala's legs.

Donovan, who has eight goals this season, picked up his fourth assist just six minutes later on Buddle's first goal. Buddle deserves all the credit, though, after he made a great run outside the top of the box to avoid three defenders. He then slotted the ball into the left side past a helpless Sala.

In the 34th minute, Donovan helped L.A. extend its lead to three when he tried to cross from the left side and got a lucky deflection off of Dallas defender Dulio Davino for an own goal.

Buddle capped the stretch in the 39th minute by tapping the ball into an empty net from just a few yards out. Donovan started the play with a corner kick to Buddle, who headed to Alvaro Pires. Pires headed back to the right post to set up Buddle's easy goal.

Oduro gave Dallas a little hope of a comeback with his first goal of the year in the 54th minute. Cooper passed to Oduro, who fired past Cronin.

Dallas nearly cut the lead in half twice in the next 10 minutes but Cooper and Juan Toja both wasted great chances with high shots.

A sluggish last 25 minutes included a confrontation between the Galaxy's David Beckham and Dallas' Adrian Serioux, who started the spat with a reckless foul. Serioux took Beckham off his feet with a dangerous sliding tackle and Beckham immediately got in his face and the two exchanged a few shoves.

Serioux was shown a red card and Beckham was held back by Donovan and Klein to diffuse the situation.

Donovan and Beckham combined to assist on Buddle's last goal with five minutes remaining. Donovan and Beckham both picked up their fifth assists of the year to tie Columbus Crew midfielder Guillermo Barros Schelotto for the MLS lead.

Buddle, who had five goals for L.A. last year, celebrated his memorable outing by holding up three fingers.

Los Angeles hopes to build on its win Saturday when its hosts the Kansas City Wizards. FC Dallas will try to snap its winless streak Saturday when it hosts Real Salt Lake.
