MLS Game Summary - Columbus at Toronto FC

Final Score: Columbus 0 - Toronto FC 0

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto FC goalie Greg Sutton posted his third shutout in his last four matches, helping the Canadian club snap the Columbus Crew's five-game win streak with a 0-0 draw at BMO Field on Saturday.

Sutton made just two saves - defender Tyrone Marshall contributed with a save on the line - as Toronto FC (3-2-2) extended its unbeaten run to five matches in front of 20,358 fans.

"Toronto is a team playing very well," Columbus coach Sigi Schmid said. "We're just happy to go out of here with the draw."

Columbus (6-1-1) goalie Will Hesmer made six saves for his third shutout. The Crew are still unbeaten in six straight and lead Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference by three points over the Chicago Fire. TFC is six points back.

Toronto FC had the first scoring chance in the fifth minute when Danny Dichio made a nice pass to Amado Guevara in the penalty area. Guevara volleyed the ball at Hesmer, who made his only save of the first half.

Columbus' Robbie Rogers, who has a team-high five goals, delivered his club's only scoring chance of the first half. With Greg Sutton coming out to cut down the angle, Rogers sneaked a shot past him but Marshall made a save on the line in the 24th minute.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who leads the league with five assists, set up the Crew's next chance in the 58th minute. His free kick found Rogers near the top of the area, but Rogers' header was easily saved by Sutton.

Toronto countered with a chance by Laurent Robert, who opened space at the top of the area to set up a blast that deflected off the left post in the 60th.

TFC's Rohan Ricketts had the next chance but wasted an open look with a blast right at Hesmer in the 78th. Robert had another left-footed blast in the 80th, but it rolled harmlessly to Hesmer.

The scoreless draw was the fourth in MLS this season.

"Last year, we probably would have lost a game like that," Toronto coach John Carver said. "I'm disappointed. But it shows how far we've come, not to accept a scoreless draw."

Toronto, which is 2-0-2 at BMO, hosts the first game of a home-and-away series with D.C. United on Wednesday. The second game is April 24 at D.C.

Columbus hosts the New England Revolution on April 24.
