MLS Game Summary - Chicago at New England

Final Score: Chicago 3 - New England 0

Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - John Thorrington had a goal and an assist to lead the Chicago Fire to a 3-0 win Saturday over the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer.

Thorrington, who scored twice in last week's 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids, assisted on Chris Rolfe's goal in the 29th minute and scored in the 50th.

Chicago's Stephen King scored his first career MLS goal in the 76th minute to cap the scoring.

Chicago (4-1-1) won for the fourth time in its last five matches. The Fire are two points behind the Columbus Crew, who edged the Kansas City Wizards 2-1, in the Eastern Conference.

New England (3-3-1) had its two-game unbeaten streak snapped.

Thorrington helped Chicago grab the lead in the 29th minute when he passed to Rolfe inside the penalty area. Rolfe turned and shot to the lower left side to beat Revolution goalie Matt Reis.

Chad Barrett picked up his second assist of the season in the 50th minute when he set up Thorrington's team-high third goal. Barrett had the ball at the top of the area before passing to Thorrington.

Thorrington placed the ball perfectly into the lower right. He scored just two goals in his first three MLS seasons.

King, who entered in the 69th minute as a substitute, scored after a shot by Barrett was spilled by Reis. King stepped to the loose ball in the area and, before Reis could recover from the initial save, scored into an empty net.

Chicago scored on three of its four shots on goal.

New England welcomed back Steve Ralston, who had been out injured since the season opener, but couldn't convert any of its 11 shots.

Fire goalie Jon Busch made six saves to post his third shutout of the season.
