Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Kenny Cooper and Abe Thompson scored on each side of the half to lead FC Dallas over Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center on Sunday night.
The win improves the Hoops improve to 2-0-2, which makes them the lone unbeaten club in Major League Soccer after four weeks.
Both sides were somewhat shorthanded, with Dallas playing without midfielders Juan Toja and Pablo Ricchetti because of injury and Chivas USA (1-2-1) playing without midfielders Francisco Mendoza and Sacha Kljestan after they received red cards last weekend.
Dallas opened the scoring early after right winger Dax McCarty swung a cross to the left side of the box to Ricardinho, who headed into the six to Cooper who roofed a shot past Goats goalkeeper Brad Guzan inside five minutes.
The game's only other goal came 10 minutes from time when second half substitute Abe Thompson ran onto a long ball by Arturo Alvarez in the Chivas area behind defenders Shavar Thomas and Jonathan Bornstein, cut back when the two caught up and fired a shot just inside the near post.
Dallas will look to continue its strong start to the '08 campaign when it hosts New England on Thursday while Chivas USA plays in the SuperClasico vs. the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.
