MLS Game Summary - New York at Dallas

Final Score: Red Bull New York 0 - FC Dallas 2

Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - In its first two Major League Soccer fixtures of the season, FC Dallas let late leads slip away to earn two draws.

The Hoops (1-0-2) weren't about to let that happen for the third week in a row, earning their first victory of the season, 2-0, against the visiting New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.

Arturo Alvarez and Kenny Cooper, who both scored goals is last weekend's 3-3 tie at Houston, scored the only goals of the game to lead the Hoops to the win.

The Red Bulls (1-1-0) got a taste of their own medicine at the start of the game. Last week in a 2-0 victory over Columbus at home, they scored a goal under a minute in to set the tone. On Saturday, Alvarez scored the game's first goal just under a minute to give the home Hoops the advantage.

Andre Rocha got the assist on the goal, his second of the season.

With the Red Bulls pushing forward in the second half looking for the equalizer, Dallas defender Adrian Serioux played a ball over the top to big forward Cooper, who got behind the defense and fired a perfectly placed finesses shot past new York 'keeper Conway, into the far post side netting.

New York will try to rebound next Saturday when it hosts New England while the Hoops travel to Los Angeles to take on Chivas USA on April 20 in their next league fixture.

Game Notes: The Red Bulls played without star forward Juan Pablo Angel, who didn't make the trip because of a hamstring injury. Eighteen-year-old striker Jozy Altidore, who missed the team's season opener last week with a knee injury, started in his place. ... The Red Bulls also played without center back Jeff Parke, who served a suspension for being ejected in last week's win. ... New York coach Juan Carlos Osorio played a 4-4-2 formation without Parke after playing a 3-5-2 last week. Fullbacks Kevin Goldthwaite and Chris Leitch played out of position, serving as the center backs in the formation.
