New England (9-4-3) at Los Angeles (6-5-3), 10:30 p.m.

Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The New England Revolution and the Los Angeles Galaxy, leaders in their respective conferences, square off at the Home Depot Center on Friday night in a 4th of July extravaganza.

The Galaxy (6-5-3), who are coming off a humbling loss at D.C. United this past Sunday, will be aiming to reassert their offensive dominance on their home turf. They lead the league with 32 goals so far this season.

The team features are star-studded lineup that boasts two of the top three scorers in Major League Soccer this season in forwards Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle, not to mention David Beckham on the right wing.

Buddle was the only one able to get on the board in the 4-1 loss at D.C. last week, with Donovan and Beckham being held in check.

"I think we played quite well and we had great opportunities to go one up, with Landon [Donovan]. The second half, you saw it in the team, they suffered from the heat, they were exhausted," L.A. coach Ruud Gullit said. "I think if you saw the first half, it was a totally different team from the beginning. I think D.C. played very well in the second half and therefore deserved to win."

The Revs (9-4-3) are coming off a 2-1 win over Toronto FC in which veteran Steve Ralston scored both goals to earn player of the week.

"[Steve Ralston] just shows all the experience that he has the two goals in particular where he follows up," Revs coach Steve Nicol said. "You talk to your strikers about following up and they don't all do it. He's not even a striker but he reads it well; he doesn't just take for granted that it is going to go in the net or go wide and he follows it up. That is just experience. The second one was just again experience - cool head - people diving in he stays calm and puts it away."

The Revs could be getting a boost at forward, with Taylor Twellman listed as probable after playing just 45 minutes this season with ankle and knee injuries.

In his absence, Kenny Mansally, Kheli Dube and Adam Cristman have held the fort, but the Revs will be a much more dangerous team with a fit Twellman in the mix.
