MLS Preview from The Sports Network

Toronto (5-3-2) at Houston (3-3-5), 8:30 p.m.

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Toronto FC travels to take on the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium in Major League Soccer action on Sunday.

Both clubs are coming off shutout victories at their respective home stadiums last week, with the Dynamo edging the New York Red Bulls 1-0 and TFC blanking the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0.

The Reds are currently one of the hottest teams in MLS with just one loss in their last eight league fixtures, but they are a much different team on the road, where they have just a 1-3 record. The team is confident in a result Sunday, however, because of how it was able to dominate the Galaxy last week even though it was shorthanded.

"When you've got six players out of the team, Laurent [Robert's] suspended, a couple of slight injuries and guys who are on international duty then it's a little bit of a concern but I've got faith and confidence in the guys who have come in and I've said to them in the dressing room that you've been waiting for a chance you've been patient - and they've taken it," TFC coach John Carver said.

TFC will be without midfielders Amado Guevara and Maurice Edu because of their participation with their respective national teams this weekend.

"I'm hoping that everyone apart from Amado will join up with the squad ahead of the Houston game," Carver said. "... We've eased off a bit with the guys who've been playing most of the games. We just did a light training session and the younger players who've not been in the games did a full session."

Houston is well rested after having its Thursday night clash at D.C. United postponed because of inclement weather, and will look to continue its surge up the Western conference table on Sunday. The Dynamo have just one loss in their last six league fixtures.

"If you look at our first 10 games, we had seven on the road, and in this league that is very difficult to play in," Houston forward Brian Ching said. "The way we started off, I think we were a little disappointed in how we started the season. But since then, we just put our heads down and have gotten back to playing how we are capable. Now we are working as a team and battling for results. I think in the past few games, you have really seen that."

The Dynamo will probably be without two of their most influential defenders on Sunday, with left back Wade Barrett doubtful with an injury while center back Eddie Robinson will be serving a suspension he earned after a red card last week.
