MLS Preview from The Sports Network

Dallas (3-3-4) at Colorado (4-5-0), 3 p.m.

Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids meet up in a Major League Soccer fixture at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Sunday in an important fixture in regards to Western Conference table positioning.

The Hoops are currently second from the top with an extra game played while the Rapids are just two points back of the leaders heading into the weekend fixtures.

The Rapids are coming off a 2-1 loss to Chivas USA in their last league fixture that knocked them out of the top spot.

"[Chivas USA] clearly slowed the game down from the beginning," Colorado coach Fernando Clavijo said. "In the first 25 minutes I thought they were a team ready to be beat. We just didn't do anything to beat them. We were very poor, there was no energy and our passing was horrible. It just reminded me of [the] San Jose [home loss] all over again. It seems like we are overlooking teams in distress. It wasn't what Chivas did, it was what we didn't do. We put on pressure in the last 10 minutes, but should have put it the first 80."

Dallas is coming off a 2-2 draw with Texas rival Houston at midweek. The Hoops let in a late equalizer by the defending champs to be forced to share the points.

"I think we had a lot of positive moments," Dallas interim coach Marco Ferruzzi said. "We put them under a lot of pressure. The goals were very good and we had good possession. I think there are a lot of positives to take from this.

"It takes focus all the way through 90 minutes and the extra time. We're still building our mental fitness and toughness to get through those final minutes but we'll get there."

Both teams will be missing players with Colorado starting goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul being called to play for Senegal in World Cup qualifiers and Dallas playing for Canada vs. Brazil in a friendly on Sunday. Dallas will also be without Andre Rocha, who received a red card vs. Houston on Wednesday.
