D.C. United (3-7-0) at New England (6-3-1), 7:30 p.m.
Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - D.C. United coach Tom Soehn said Saturday's 3-2 win over Toronto FC was "one step in the right direction."
Soehn also warned, "we still have a lot of work to do."
D.C. United scored two times in the second half, including the game winner from 2007 Major League Soccer MVP Luciano Emilio, to snap a four-match losing streak and end Toronto's six-game unbeaten streak with a 3-2 win.
"This is a good starting point. Coming from behind, winning a game, it's a real positive and something to grow off," Soehn said.
D.C. will try to build on just its third win of the season when it plays first- place New England on Thursday. The Revolution ended Columbus' six-game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory Saturday to pull level with the Crew and the Chicago Fire atop the Eastern Conference.
"We didn't sit back and hope for a tie, we came out and attacked and we beat the top team in the league in their house, so I think we're all very pleased with that," Revolution goalie Matt Reis said.
United won the season series last year, winning two of the three meetings with New England and drawing the other one. Emilio, who broke out of a funk Saturday with just his second goal this season, scored three times against New England last season.
Getting Emilio back on track is important for D.C., which is already 10 points back in the standings and has a better record than just two teams - Real Salt Lake and the San Jose Earthquakes.
Jaime Moreno started United's comeback with a penalty kick and Emilio tapped in a rebound off a blast from Santino Quaranta to score the winner last week.
"At halftime, we could've fell apart - I felt like our whole season was riding on this halftime, honestly," Quaranta said. "Because if we come out and lose that game, where do we go from there?"
Now D.C., which had the best record in MLS the last two seasons, is hoping to go nowhere but up. United will make the trip to Gillette Stadium without Jeff Carroll (toe surgery) and Francis Doe, who is with the Liberian national team.
New England continues to have injury problems as well. Striker Taylor Twellman (ankle sprain) is doubtful, and Adam Cristman (toe) and Jeff Larentowicz (quad) are probable. In addition, Kenny Mansally is with the Gambian national team.
But the Revs are also trying to build on a big win, which was also the first at Columbus this year for any MLS team. Kheli Dube had the game winner in the 89th minute of the 1-0 win.
"We're fortunate to get out of here with three points," New England coach Steve Nicol said afterward.
