Chivas USA (1-1-1) at Dallas (1-0-2), 8 p.m.
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Western Conference rivals, Chivas USA and FC Dallas, square off for the second time in the first month of action on Sunday at The Home Depot Center.
The first meeting, both teams season openers, ended in a 1-1 draw after Goats forward Maykel Galindo scored late to even things up at Pizza Hut Park on March 30.
Both teams are finding their identity early, with Dallas boasting one of the league's most versatile attacking units, led by midfielders Juan Toja and Arturo Alvarez and forward Kenny Cooper.
"I think we looked dangerous up top throughout the game," FCD coach Steve Morrow said after beating New York last week. "We created some chances in the first half and could have been a couple of more goals up. I think the forwards are looking dangerous at the moment. We're very pleased overall. It's a 2-0 win at home, it's a clean sheet at home, which is good. We created lots of chances. At times, we moved the ball very well but we've also got high standards for this team and I still think we can do better and play better."
Chivas is coming off a disappointing loss at Columbus in which it gave up four goals, a couple of which Brad Guzan would have stopped last season.
"I put the blame on my shoulders," Guzan said. "I let the team down tonight. I couldn't come up with a save when we needed it. I let the guys down, but at the same time, I think we still need to get better as a whole. We were given chances to tie the game, to win the game and when we needed a save, I couldn't make it."
"Guzan was good for us last year," Chivas USA coach Preki said. "Everybody makes a mistake or two, and tonight was the result. We need to come out with a good mentality next week. It is only one game and it is still early in the season."
The team faces long odds against an unbeaten Dallas side because of suspensions earned in the Columbus loss. Chivas will be without midfielders Sacha Kljestan and Francisco Mendoza after the two players received reds vs. the Crew.
After Sunday's clash, Dallas has a quick turnaround, hosting New England on Thursday while Chivas USA plays in the Super Clasico vs. the Los Angeles Galaxy on April 26.
