NHL Game Summary - NY Rangers at Pittsburgh

Final Score: NY Rangers 0 - Pittsburgh 2

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves to notch his second career playoff shutout, as the Pittsburgh Penguins blanked the New York Rangers, 2-0, in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series from Mellon Arena.

Jordan Staal and Adam Hall scored for the Penguins, who rallied from a three- goal deficit to post a thrilling 5-4 victory in Game 1 and head to Manhattan up 2-0 in the series. The third test is scheduled for Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

"It feels great, as a goalie it never feels good to give up four goals," Fleury said. "I was happy to come back tonight and play a good game. I thought the players in front of me did a great job."

Henrik Lundqvist was the hard-luck loser for the Rangers, allowing one goal on 31 shots in defeat.

"They got some strong guys on defense, and some good forwards who try to come back every time," said New York's Martin Straka, referring to why it was tough to score. "You don't have many odd man chances. We just got to go to the net a little bit more, and get those rebounds and score."

The game was scoreless after the first period, though Marian Hossa had an excellent opportunity early in the stanza. While the Penguins enjoyed a power play, Hossa took a pass from a teammate, broke in alone on Lundqvist and deked, but the netminder pinned the right pad against the far post to deny the talented winger five minutes into the contest.

Lundqvist finished with 14 saves, while Fleury stopped 10 shots in the opening 20 minutes.

Pittsburgh used the power play to grab a 1-0 lead with 6:05 remaining in the second period. The puck made its way to the left point for Ryan Whitney, who feed Evgeni Malkin at the top of the faceoff circle.

Malkin then made a quick move around Rangers rearguard Marc Staal and slipped the puck to the front of the net, where Jordan Staal pulled the disc from the backhand to the forehand and elevated it over the right pad of Lundqvist.

Controversy arouse with a little over four minutes to go in the third. With the Rangers on a power play, Straka was battling down low and whacking at the puck. As a crowd formed in front of Fleury, the official lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle just as the disc slid between the goaltender's pads and crossed the goal line, which negated Straka's potential game-tying goal.

New York had one last chance, as Penguins defenseman Hal Gill was called for cross checking with 2:22 left in regulation, setting up a wild finish.

In the first game, with the score locked at four, Straka was whistled for interference with 3:20 to play in the contest and Sidney Crosby's one-timer glanced off Malkin's shin and sailed past Lundqvist for the game-winner with 1:41 remaining.

The Rangers pulled Lundqvist to create a 6-on-4 advantage this time, but were unable to convert and Hall's empty-net tally with 16.7 seconds left sealed the victory.

After the horn sounded, New York's Sean Avery and Fleury got into a shoving match.
