NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Anaheim

Final Score: Dallas 2 - Anaheim 5

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Teemu Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf each had a goal and an assist as the Anaheim Ducks staved off elimination with a 5-2 win over Dallas in Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinals at the Honda Center.

Corey Perry, Sean O'Donnell and Todd Marchant each had a goal for the Ducks, who now trail the best-of-seven series, 3-2. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 40 saves in the win.

"It wasn't always pretty, but we did the job and found a way to win. Giguere said. "It was do or die. I wanted to leave it all on the table."

Mattias Norstrom and Mike Ribeiro each had a goal while Marty Turco gave up four goals on 31 shots in the loss for the Stars, who will have another chance to move to the next round on Sunday, as Game 6 is set to take place in Dallas.

"We would have loved to have done it tonight," Turco said. "Certainly our effort was there. It was enough, but we let in too many chances. Now we'll get a pretty good crack at it at home."

Anaheim broke onto the scoreboard at the 8:25 mark of the first. After Giguere made a beautiful diving stop, the Ducks brought the puck down to the Dallas end. Perry wound up with the disc and from the right circle and ripped a quick wrister between the pads of Turco for a 1-0 lead.

Dallas, though, tied the game with 1:33 left in the opening frame. Brad Richards had the puck at the top of the right circle and faked a shot before passing the puck over to Norstrom, who snapped a wrist shot into the net just one second after a Dallas power play expired.

Skating on the power play, the Ducks took a 2-1 lead at the 11:03 mark of the second. Getzlaf had the puck at the left circle and held it for a few seconds before snapping a shot through a screen and into the right corner of the net.

Giguere was busy in the second period, as he had 16 shots thrown his way, but he stopped everything he faced.

Anaheim padded its advantage with a power-play goal just 48 seconds into the third period. Chris Pronger blasted a shot from the right point that missed the net, but it bounced off the end boards and wound up at the left side of the net, where Selanne banged it in to make it a 3-1 game.

Dallas made it a one-goal game just four minutes later. Ribeiro had the puck behind the net, used his body to shield off a defender and spun around and slipped a shot under the pad of Giguere.

However, the Ducks gave themselves some breathing room with 7:55 to play as Chris Kunitz fired a pass from behind the right side of the net to the slot, and O'Donnell one-timed the puck into the net for a 4-2 lead.

Anaheim held off Dallas for the rest of the way and Marchant's empty-net goal with 1:24 to play sealed the victory for the Ducks.
