NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Dallas

Final Score: Anaheim 1 - Dallas 3

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Stu Barnes registered a goal and an assist, as the Dallas Stars downed the Anaheim Ducks, 3-1, in Game 4 of their Western Conference quarterfinal set.

Joel Lundqvist and Steve Ott also scored for the Stars, who lead the series, 3-1. Marty Turco stopped 28-of-29 shots to earn the win.

"Everybody wanted to come out strong after the other night," Barnes said. "We played better all around and got an early goal. The defense did a great job holding them off and Marty was great. We have to play complete games and not give Anaheim anything. We need to make sure we're at our best tomorrow night."

Mathieu Schneider scored the lone goal for the reigning Stanley Cup champions, who will host Game 5 on Friday. Jean-Sebastien Giguere allowed three goals on 20 shots in defeat.

Right winger Corey Perry was back in the lineup for Anaheim after missing the final 12 games of the regular season and the first three of the playoffs with a quad injury. Perry had a tendon in his right thigh partially severed by the skate blade of Colorado netminder Jose Theodore midway through the third period of the Ducks' 1-0 loss on March 6.

Dallas appeared to score at the 8:15 mark of the opening stanza, but a questionable goaltender interference penalty on Niklas Hagman negated Trevor Daley's tally.

A ghastly turnover by the Ducks in the defensive zone then led to the Stars taking a 1-0 lead. Anaheim defenseman Sean O'Donnell coughed the puck up in the slot, placing it right on the stick of Loui Eriksson. Eriksson then quickly tapped it over to Lundqvist, who ripped a shot between the pads of Giguere with 3:21 to play before the first intermission.

Anaheim looked to have tied the score eight minutes into the second period, but the marker was waved off. Todd Bertuzzi circled behind the net, came around the near post and threw the puck into the crease, where it ricocheted off the left skate of Brian Sutherby. However, the play underwent a lengthy video review and the replay revealed that Sutherby used a distinct kicking motion to guide the puck across the goal line.

The Stars went up 2-0 at the 9:01 mark of the third. Mike Modano fired a long, stretch pass to Barnes, who got in behind the Anaheim defense and broke in alone on Giguere. The veteran forward skated down the middle of the ice and snapped a wrister that beat Giguere through the five-hole.

Ott put the game away with 2:43 left in regulation. Off a turnover in the neutral zone, Barnes raced down the right side and, with Ott joining him on the rush, slipped a pass across that the rugged forward stuffed into the net.

Schneider ruined Turco's shutout bid with 7.6 seconds remaining.
