Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Shea Weber had a goal and an assist as the Nashville Predators evened up their best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal series with a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 4 at the Sommet Center.
Dan Hamhuis and Greg de Vries each lit the lamp for the Predators while Dan Ellis was strong in the win as he stopped 39 shots.
Pavel Datsyuk scored both goals while Dominik Hasek gave up all three goals on 14 shots in the loss for the Red Wings. Chris Osgood replaced Hasek in net early in the second period and stopped all 13 shots he faced.
The action moves back to Detroit where Game 5 will take place on Friday.
Nashville grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first with a pair of goals separated by 32 seconds.
With Detroit's Niklas Kronvall in the penalty box for hooking, Hamhuis scored with a shot from the left circle over Hasek's glove off a pass from Alexander Radulov at 5:18 of the first.
Then Weber beat Hasek on a long wrister for a 2-0 lead just 32 seconds later.
Ellis stopped all 11 shots he faced in the first period.
The Red Wings cut their deficit in half on the power play at the 6:24 mark of the second. Brian Rafalski had the puck at the right circle and sent a cross- ice pass for Datsyuk, who held the puck for a moment to get Ellis to commit and then slipped a shot between the pads of the goaltender.
However, the Predators regained their two-goal edge just 11 seconds later as de Vries' slap shot from the left point got past a screened Hasek for a 3-1 lead.
Hasek was pulled from the net after the goal and replaced by Osgood.
Detroit made it a 3-2 game early in the third period. Tomas Holmstrom skated the puck behind the net and from the right side sent a cross-ice pass over to Datsyuk, who corralled the puck and flicked it in at the 3:23 mark.
However, the Red Wings were unable to get any more past Ellis as the Predators hung on for the win.
