NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Dallas

Final Score: Anaheim 4 - Dallas 2

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Chris Pronger posted two goals and an assist, as the Anaheim Ducks doubled up the Dallas Stars, 4-2, in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series at American Airlines Center.

Ryan Getzlaf registered a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who trail 2-1 in the series. Anaheim will look to even things up in Game 4 on Thursday. Jean- Sebastien Giguere made 31 saves to pick up the win.

"We were much better in the offensive zone and better at puck support," Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said. "We were a much hungrier team tonight. We scored two big power-play goals that helped lighten the load for us."

Brenden Morrow scored twice, while Mike Modano and Mike Ribeiro both had two assists for the Stars. Marty Turco allowed four goals on 15 shots in defeat.

"We came out and had some great chances that didn't go in," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said. "We got tentative and allowed a few, but it took a period or two to get it back going. They (Ducks) took advantage of their chances and we didn't. We looked jittery and made some uncharacteristic mistakes. We battled through it in the third but it wasn't meant to be tonight."

It was all Ducks in the first period.

Off the forecheck, Travis Moen threw the puck out from behind the net to Todd Marchant, who rifled a shot past Turco at 6:39.

Anaheim then capitalized on a turnover to grab a 2-0 lead at 10:09. Getzlaf collected the puck in the high slot, faked a shot, went around a fallen Turco and stuffed a backhander into the net.

A power-play goal by Pronger made it 3-0 with 5:29 to play before the first intermission. The Ducks worked the puck down below the goal line, where Todd Bertuzzi whipped a pass through the crease that Pronger tapped in.

Pronger connected on the power play at the 5:34 mark of the second to give the Ducks a 4-0 lead.

Morrow netted a pair of power-play goals to narrow the deficit to 4-2 in the third period. The Dallas captain lit the lamp at 5:43 on an easy tap-in and found the back of the net for a second time at 7:22. Giguere got a piece of Modano's shot, but couldn't corral it and Morrow jammed home the rebound at the right side of the net.

As the period reached the midway point, Mathieu Schneider was assessed a double minor for high-sticking, presenting the Stars with a glorious opportunity to possibly tie the game. Anaheim, though, did an excellent job on the penalty kill, limiting the Stars to only four shots.

Giguere turned aside everything the Stars threw at him down the stretch to preserve the win.
