Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Henrik Zetterberg scored the go-ahead goal with 11.4 seconds to play, and the Detroit Red Wings scored twice in the final 3 1/2 minutes to top the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-2, clinching the Presidents' Trophy and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
Columbus goaltender Pascal Leclaire attempted to play Pavel Datsyuk's dump-in, but lost control of the puck. Zetterberg picked the puck up behind the goal line and flipped a backhander that deflected off Leclaire's leg and into the net.
Mark Hartigan and Johan Franzen lit the lamp for the Red Wings, who will finish with the most points in the NHL for the third time in the last four seasons. Datsyuk added a pair of assists, and Dominik Hasek stopped 20 shots to earn the win.
"It felt good to get this game and get the President's," Franzen said. "We didn't want to lose this game."
Leclaire was brilliant until the closing minutes, making 36 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost three in a row. Ron Hainsey and Aaron Rome each tallied for Columbus.
"(Leclaire) gave us a chance to win it and we let him down in the end," Rome said.
Rome put the Blue Jackets on top with his first career goal 4:05 into the third. Michael Peca dropped a pass to Rome at the point for a one-timer that eluded Hasek and gave Columbus a 2-1 edge.
Detroit bombarded Leclaire with shots throughout the third, then finally tied the game on the power play when Franzen rammed home a rebound of Nicklas Lidstrom's shot from the point with 3:27 left in regulation.
"Their goalie was playing great but we got a power-play, Nick took a shot that was perfect for a rebound and I beat my guy and I had an open net," Franzen said. "In front, that's the right place to be."
After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals in the second.
Columbus took a 1-0 lead at the 7:13 mark. With Hartigan off for a tripping minor, Nikolai Zherdev slipped a pass in the high slot to Hainsey, who unleashed a slapper past Hasek.
Detroit tied the game just over 2 1/2 minutes later, when Niklas Kronwall picked up a loose puck at the point and fired a shot that bounced around in front of the net, allowing Hartigan to jam the puck past Leclaire.
