NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Columbus

Final Score: Calgary 0 - Columbus 3

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Fredrik Norrena made 18 saves to record his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career, as the Columbus Blue Jackets blanked the Calgary Flames, 3-0, at Nationwide Arena.

Rick Nash posted a goal and two assists, while Manny Malhotra lit the lamp twice for the Blue Jackets, who have won two straight and three of four overall. Dan Fritsche collected two assists.

"This is the way we played pre-All-Star break," Columbus coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We got back to the team game we need to play to win. Everybody was on board and it was nice to see. We did a lot of the things we were doing earlier this season when we were dominate in this building."

Columbus goaltender Pascal Leclaire missed the game with a head injury after he was hit up high with a shot during warmups of Sunday's 4-3 victory over Detroit. Dan LaCosta was recalled from Syracuse of the American Hockey League to serve as the backup during Leclaire's absence.

Miikka Kiprusoff allowed three goals on 38 shots for the Flames, who have dropped three of their last four contests.

Calgary remains tied with Vancouver and Colorado for second place in the Northwest Division, two points behind Minnesota.

In a physical first period that featured 25 hits -- 16 for the Blue Jackets -- Nash provided all the offense with his team-leading 37th goal of the season. Early in the stanza, Fritsche fired a long, outlet pass to Nash streaking down the left wing. Nash took the feed from Fritsche and snapped a wrister from the outer rim of the left circle that handcuffed Kiprusoff before trickling across the goal line at the 3:26 mark.

Kiprusoff turned aside 17 shots in a scoreless second period, while his Columbus counterpart made six saves. Calgary defenseman David Hale nearly tied the score, but his offering from the left point ricocheted off the far post with 8:41 to go in the middle stanza.

Back-to-back goals by Malhotra broke the game open in the third period. Off a nice dish by Nash from below the goal line, Malhotra wired a shot from the left circle behind Kiprusoff at the 5:39 mark. Then, 70 seconds later, Malhotra made it 3-0 with his 10th goal of the season and fourth in the last two games.
