Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Jarome Iginla posted his 45th goal of the campaign as Calgary doubled up Chicago, 4-2, at the United Center.
Adrian Aucoin, Kristian Huselius and Dion Phaneuf also tallied, and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 34-of-36 shots in the win. The Flames snapped a two-game skid and pulled into a tie with idle Minnesota and Colorado for first place in the Northwest Division.
"We've had trouble finishing games and it's very important to get these two points," said Calgary's Alex Tanguay, who had a pair of assists while playing in his 600th NHL game. "We're battling for the same playoff points, and we still have a chance to win the division. In the playoffs, that can make a huge difference."
Jonathan Toews and Robert Lang scored for Chicago, which has dropped five of its last six contests. Patrick Lalime allowed all four goals on 22 shots, and was lifted for Nikolai Khabibulin in the third period. Khabibulin made five saves the rest of the way.
"We need to get some bounces," said Toews. "We're just not playing our best hockey. Little things are breaking down, and we didn't play our game until we were down 4-1."
The Flames jumped on top with an early power-play goal, as Aucoin ripped a shot that sailed through a screen, deflected off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net just 1:51 into the contest.
Toews made it 1-1 with the Blackhawks on the man-advantage when he flipped a harmless-looking shot from the left side that got through Kiprusoff at 10:25 of the first.
Iginla notched his 45th of the campaign early in the second, as he took an outlet pass, broke two strides ahead of the Blackhawks' defense and beat Lalime with a soft wrister at 1:13.
Huselius sustained the momentum when he beat Lalime to the top right corner at 4:54, and Phaneuf propelled the Flames to a 4-1 lead when his shot from the right circle snaked through the five-hole of the netminder at 13:47 of the middle frame.
Lang cut it to 4-2 when he stuffed home a loose puck in the crease at 4:41 of the third, but the Blackhawks couldn't pull any closer.
