Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Teemu Selanne had a hat trick and added two assists as the Anaheim Ducks doubled up the Chicago Blackhawks, 6-3, at the Honda Center.
Chris Kunitz had a goal and three assists while Ryan Getzlaf added a goal and two assists for the red-hot Ducks, who have won four straight and nine of their last 10 games. Jonas Hiller made 29 saves in the win.
Since coming back to the ice on February 5, Selanne, who has 20 career hat tricks, has played in 10 games and has six goals and five assists.
"The team is playing well and that is the most important thing," said Selanne. "Everybody is doing their own job and that is what it takes. This was a good example, I didn't think we played as good as we were able to play, but we played good enough to win the game. That is what makes this team very, very strong."
Anaheim has dominated Chicago as of late, winning five straight and 12 of the last 13.
Anaheim captain Chris Pronger left the after he was on the receiving end of a stick to the face from Patrick Sharp in the second period. On Sharp's second goal, he was following through on his shot when he hit Pronger in the face. Pronger immediately fell to the ice before getting to his feet and heading to the locker room. It was later announced that he had a jaw contusion and he did not return to play.
Sharp scored twice and added an assist and Brent Seabrook also scored for the Blackhawks, who had won five of six coming into the contest.
"I look more at our effort now," said Chicago coach Denis Savard. "These guys were the champions last year and we gave them the game. I thought we could have gotten the two points, but we have to move on."
Patrick Lalime and Corey Crawford split duties in net, with Lalime giving up five goals on 25 shots and Crawford allowing one goal on three shots.
The Ducks scored twice in 53 seconds in the first period to grab the lead.
On the power play, Getzlaf threw a pass from the left side to the front where Selanne one-timed it through traffic at the 7:45 mark.
Less than a minute later, Getzlaf's low shot from the left circle squeezed between the pads of Boucher, who was pulled from net after the goal.
The Ducks made it a 3-0 game with 2:47 left in the first as Selanne's pass from the low left side hit a Chicago player in front and got past Crawford.
The Blackhawks got a goal back 58 seconds later as Sharp jammed the puck in during a scrum in front to make it a 3-1 contest.
Anaheim regained its three-goal lead at the 2:27 mark of the second period as Kent Huskins knocked the puck into the net during a melee in front of Lalime, who was put back into the net to start the second period.
Sharps' second goal of the game at the 13:52 mark of the second period made it a 4-2 contest.
The Blackhawks made it a 4-3 contest with 4:40 to play as Jonathan Toews won a left circle faceoff and the puck went back to Seabrook, who blasted a shot from the slot that beat Hiller.
However, just eight seconds later Selanne completed the hat trick as Kunitz fired a pass from the left point that Selanne tipped into the net from down low.
Kunitz's wrister from the right circle just 44 seconds later beat Lalime for a 6-3 lead.
