NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Minnesota

Final Score: Calgary 2 - Minnesota 1

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Miikka Kiprusoff made 38 saves to lead the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.

Daymond Langkow and Craig Conroy scored for the Flames, who have won four straight. Jarome Iginla, Owen Nolan, Kristian Huselius and Marcus Nilson had an assist each for Calgary, which was outshot by Minnesota 39-16.

"Kiprusoff played great," said Conroy. "We took a lot of penalties but we ended up hanging on at the end."

With the win, Calgary leap-frogged Minnesota by one point in the standings and now sits atop the Northwest Division.

Mark Parrish tallied for the Wild, who have dropped three straight. Mikko Koivu picked up an assist and Niklas Backstrom stopped 14 shots in the loss.

"It's bittersweet because it was such a great day," said Minnesota defenseman Keith Carney who played his 1,000th career game and was honored before the start of the contest. "It was an honor to be saluted in front of the Minnesota fans because they are such great fans. But to not get the two points is bittersweet."

Calgary struck first with a power-play goal at 12:35 of the first period. Iginla sent a pass from the side of the net that Langkow tipped in for a 1-0 edge.

The Wild appeared to tie the game halfway through the second period. Aaron Voros was battling in front for a rebound when he was taken down by Calgary defenseman Jim Vandermeer, who kicked the puck into the net as Voros slid into Kiprusoff.

The goal was waived off, however, after the referee ruled the puck was pushed in with Kiprusoff.

At 13:52 of the second, the Flames put some distance between themselves and the Wild. On a 2-on-1 Conroy took a pass from Nolan and fired high to the blocker side beating Backstrom.

Parrish pulled Minnesota within 2-1 just 38 seconds into the third period, scoring on a rebound during a power-play.
