Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Daniel Alfredsson's goal with 3.2 seconds left in overtime lifted Ottawa to a 4-3 comeback victory over Pittsburgh at Mellon Arena.

Alfredsson gained control of the puck in the low slot after Andrej Meszaros dished off behind his back. The Sens captain fanned on his initial shot, a forehander, but took two more strides and lifted a backhander past Ty Conklin just inside the left post.

"It's something to build on," said Ottawa head coach John Paddock. "How often do you come back from being down 3-0? We always felt in the new NHL, no lead is safe. We'll all be a little bit looser come practice tomorrow to get ready for the Maple Leafs."

The goal was a particularly crushing blow for the Penguins, who had a trio of odd-man-rushes in the extra session and saw a pair of chances in the previous minute ring off the post.

Dany Heatley scored twice to reach 30 goals for the season and Cory Stillman once for the Senators, who overcame a three-goal deficit to win for the second time in the last three games.

Ray Emery got stronger as the game progressed, earning the win by making 32 saves.

Petr Sykora, Colby Armstrong and Jeff Taffe tallied for the Penguins, whose three-game win streak ended. Conklin made 24 stops in the loss.

With the extra point for the overtime loss, Pittsburgh moves within one point of New Jersey for the Atlantic Division lead. The Devils moved ahead of the Penguins with a 4-2 win over the Islanders earlier Saturday.

The Pens capitalized on an early power-play, as Sykora rifled home his 20th goal of the season 1:47 into the contest.

Armstrong made it 2-0 with a cannon shot from the right wing 4:09 into the second, and Taffe gave Pittsburgh a three-goal lead at 10:20 when he roofed the puck over a fallen Emery.

Stillman picked up his second goal in as many games when he followed a loose puck through the crease and tapped it in from the right side at 12:47, and Heatley made it 3-2 with 2:46 to go when he netted his own rebound.

Heatley struck again to tie the game, 3-3, 6:09 into the third, as he was alone in front to send home a feed from Randy Robitaille.

"We let it slip away," Pens forward Ryan Malone lamented. "All those power plays early on, we had to bury one more and that was the difference."
