NHL Game Summary - St. Louis at Anaheim

Final Score: St. Louis 1 - Anaheim 2

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Samuel Pahlsson's goal 32 seconds into overtime lifted the Anaheim Ducks to a hard-earned 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues at Honda Center.

After both teams scored third period goals to force the sudden death session, Rob Niedermayer found Pahlsson in the slot with a perfect backhand pass, allowing Pahlsson to fire a one-timer past Manny Legace for the game-winner.

"It was a really great pass, a backhand saucer across the crease," Pahlsson said. "It was almost perfect."

Teemu Selanne also tallied for the Ducks, who won for the eighth time in nine games. Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 16-of-17 shots, and the Anaheim penalty kill held off all four St. Louis power play chances.

"Going into Los Angeles, we didn't have a very good game," St. Louis' Erik Johnson said. "We wanted to come out with some fire and we played a pretty good game all three periods, but they ended up coming out on top in the end. We'll just have to rebound when we play in Phoenix."

Legace took the loss despite making 27 saves, as the Blues dropped their second game in as many nights. Ryan Johnson added the lone goal for the Blues, who managed just 10 shots in being held scoreless over the first two periods.

Just 2:17 into the third period, St. Louis finally broke the scoreless contest when Lee Stempniak found Ryan Johnson at the top of the right circle for a wobbling blast that soared over Giguere's right shoulder and tucked into the top corner of the net for Ryan Johnson's third marker of the year.

Less than two minutes later, Anaheim tied the game when Selanne deflected Mathieu Schneider's rocket from the point into the net, finally beating Legace on the Ducks' 24th shot of the night.

Both teams had chances over the final 15 minutes, but both defenses held tough heading into overtime.
