NHL Game Summary - Detroit at Colorado

Final Score: Detroit 4 - Colorado 0

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Standout defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom was lost in the first period with a knee injury, but the Detroit Red Wings managed to halt their six-game losing skid with a 4-0 win over Colorado at the Pepsi Center.

Henrik Zetterberg powered the short-handed Red Wings with a pair of goals while Chris Osgood, in for the ailing Dominik Hasek (hip flexor), made 18 saves en route to his 47th career shutout.

Lidstrom was checked into the left wall by Ian Laperriere early in the contest and fell awkwardly to the ice. He attempted to get up and resume skating, but was clearly wobbly. He was assisted by a referee before being aided into the locker room.

It is unknown when Lidstrom will return to the ice.

Pavel Datsyuk had three assists for the Red Wings, who hadn't lost six in a row since they dropped seven straight back in 1991. The Red Wings also endured a six-game winless streak (four losses, two ties) from January 25-February 8, 2003.

"We wanted to win badly. Unfortunately, it was a bad taste with Nick going out," Zetterberg said. . Jose Theodore allowed four goals on 40 shots for Colorado, which has lost four in a row.

"We did not play the game we wanted to play against these guys. It was a long 60 minutes," said Theodore.

Shortly after losing Lidstrom, Chris Chelios lit the lamp. The fellow defenseman wound up and released a slapshot that navigated through traffic in front and past Theodore for his first goal in 54 games.

The Red Wings added a power-play marker in the final minute of the opening stanza to make it 2-0. Jiri Hudler set the play up with a centering feed that skipped through the crowded slot and onto the stick of Valtteri Filppula, who wristed a sharp-angle shot that found the twine.

Zetterberg expanded the lead with a pair of second-period markers. The first was a result of a turnover, with Datsyuk executing a cross-ice pass that Zetterberg polished off with a one-timer.

The tandem connected again midway through the second as part of a 3-on-1 opportunity that upped the advantage to 4-0.

Osgood stood tall for the remainder of the game to preserve the shutout.
