Manny Legace took the loss despite a 42-save performance.
Stastny picked up the lone goal of the opening 20 minutes, and thanks to 30 saves from Legace, the Blues nursed a one-goal lead through two periods.
Nashville came at their foes furiously in the third period, amassing a 13-0 shot advantage, but didn't hit the net until Nichol knotted the game with 8:20 left in regulation, firing home from the right circle for his eighth of the season.
