NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Colorado

Final Score: Anaheim 2 - Colorado 1

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Teemu Selanne scored his first goal since his return, helping the resurgent Anaheim Ducks edge the Colorado Avalanche, 2-1, at the Pepsi Center.

Samuel Pahlsson netted the eventual game-winner and Jean Sebastien-Giguere made 32 saves for the Ducks.

Selanne returned to the ice on February 5 after missing the first 56 games while pondering retirement.

His impact has been immediate. The Ducks are a perfect 5-0 since he came back to the lineup, helping Anaheim end its franchise-record nine-game road trip plus-.500 despite dropping the first four.

With his goal, Selanne tied Paul Kariya for most points in team history (669).

Marek Svatos had his team's lone goal while Jose Theodore turned away 27 shots for the Avs, who saw a modest two-game win streak come to an end.

Paul Stastny (appendectomy), Ryan Smyth (broken right ankle) and Joe Sakic (hernia surgery) all missed the game.

"He's just playing unbelievable," said Colorado winger Ian Laperriere of Theodore. "We really need that with all these injuries we have."

Colorado struck just 1:37 into the contest, as Svatos pounced on Wojtek Wolski's rebound and fired it into the back of the cage.

The scoring went silent until early in the second, when Selanne registered his first goal of the season. With the Ducks set up on the power play, Selanne got the puck along the left side of the net and wristed a shot that caromed off the glove of Theodore and in.

"I'm so glad to get it," said Selanne. "I'm just taking some baby steps, the team is playing well."

Anaheim clawed in front with 4:21 left in the third. Scott Niedermayer dipped behind the goal line and flipped the disc out in front. The puck hit Travis Moen first before Pahlsson chipped it in to make it 2-1.

Giguere kept the Avs off the board from there to preserve the lead.
