Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Milan Hejduk and Marek Svatos each scored a pair of goals as Colorado blitzed Vancouver, 6-2, at GM Place.

Tyler Arnason and Brett Clark also tallied for the Avalanche, who have won four of their last six and moved ahead of Calgary into second place in the Northwest Division with 65 points, one behind first-place Minnesota.

Wojtek Wolski picked up three assists and Jose Theodore was strong in net, making 23 stops for his 15th win of the season.

"I thought the guys played real well, jumping on the rebounds," Theodore said. "The second effort was there. We were up 3-0, they tried [to get back], but I think overall our game was really sound. They didn't have a chance to come back in the game."

Henrik Sedin and Sami Salo lit the lamp for the Canucks, who have dropped five of six. Roberto Luongo took the loss by allowing five goals on 22 shots over two full periods. Curtis Sanford allowed one goal on two shots in the third.

Arnason gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at 9:10 of the first, as he stuffed in the rebound of Svatos' turnaround shot from the right side of the crease.

Hejduk added his 19th of the season a little more than two minutes later and Svatos hit the net with 2:55 to play, and Colorado went to intermission up by three.

Sedin put the Canucks on the board with a power-play goal at 7:37 of the second, but the Avs came back with two goals to go into the second intermission ahead by four.

Clark ripped a shot past a screened Luongo at 16:41 to restore the three-goal cushion, and 20 seconds later, Arnason's initial shot was blocked right to Svatos, who pushed a bouncing puck through to make it 5-1.

"I'm a goalie not a defenceman," an agitated Luongo said. "They know what they need to do out there. I try to make the first save and then sometimes the guys have to take care of the stick at least so I can find the puck sometimes. We got outworked in front of the net at both sides. And that's why we lost."

Salo brought the Canucks within 5-2 with a power-play goal early in the third, but Hejduk's second of the game and 20th of the season at 9:21 restored Colorado's four-goal lead and capped the scoring.

"For some reason, someone said during the intermission that I played like fifty games [against the Canucks] and have thirty goals or whatever," Hejduk said. "I don't know, I have no explanation for it. It's usually our whole team plays well against them so it makes it easier."
