NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Los Angeles

Final Score: Anaheim 1 - Los Angeles 3

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jason LaBarbera made 31 saves as the Los Angeles Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks, 3-1, at Staples Center.

Derek Armstrong had a goal and an assist, while Anze Kopitar and Alex Frolov also scored for the Kings, who have won two of three and five of their last seven games overall. They also snapped a four-game losing streak to Anaheim.

"We were strong on loose pucks and it looked like we wanted the puck tonight," Kings coach Marc Crawford said. "We got a contribution from throughout the lineup. When you get that type of contribution and everybody digs in, you end up having a good game and that was a good game for us."

Rob Niedermayer had the only goal for the Ducks, who have dropped three straight. Jean-Sebastien Giguere started in net but was pulled in the second period after yielding three goals on 18 shots. Jonas Hiller turned aside 13 the rest of the way.

"We didn't play smart, and we really didn't earn those things to turn it our way," Anaheim defenseman Scott Niedermayer said. "Quite often that's the way it is, if you're out there earning those type of things they do go your way and tonight I don't think we earned them and that's why we didn't get them."

It was the Kings' game from the start, as they dominated the first period and opened the scoring with a power-player marker at 16:16. Off a scramble in front, the puck was eventually pushed back to the slot for Dustin Brown, who shot it through traffic and got a deflection off Kopitar's stick.

Armstrong made it 2-0 early in the second when he streaked through the slot, took a feed from Ed Purcell off the left side and tipped the puck just inside the right post.

The home squad then upped it to 3-0 at the midpoint of the stanza, as Frolov found an open shooting lane and, from the slot, wristed the puck by Giguere low on the far side.

Niedermayer got the Ducks on the board with 3:12 left in the contest when he used a defenseman as a screen and got the puck behind LaBarbera, officially ending the shutout bid.

The Ducks tested LaBarbera just five times in the third period.
