NHL Game Summary - Minnesota at Vancouver

Final Score: Minnesota 4 - Vancouver 2

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Pierre-Marc Bouchard had two goals and two assists as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Vancouver Canucks, 4-2, at General Motors Place.

Brian Rolston and Mikko Koivu each had a goal while Niklas Backstrom made 38 saves in the win for the Wild, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

"I guess everybody was good," said Bouchard. "We were ready. We lost a big one at home against Calgary and Anaheim. You know they're all important, but you come here in Vancouver and you want two points and guys were ready tonight."

Alex Burrows and Taylor Pyatt each had a goal for the Canucks, who have a four-game losing streak. Roberto Luongo made 22 saves in the loss.

"Obviously, it's not fun to be part of a streak like that," said Luongo. "Whatever the case is, there are different situations in the course of the season. Sometimes you are going to play as the lead and sometimes you are going to play behind. Unfortunately we weren't able to get that goal in the third there."

Holding a 2-1 lead, Koivu gave the Wild some breathing room with 4:25 left in the game when he snapped a wrister from the left circle that beat Luongo over the right shoulder for his seventh goal of the year.

The goal proved fortunate as Vancouver moved within one with just 27.8 seconds left and Luongo on the bench. A scrum behind the net resulted in the puck squirting out to the left side where Henrik Sedin grabbed it and sent a behind the back pass to Pyatt, who one-timed the puck into the net.

Bouchard, though, scored an empty-net goal with 22 ticks left on the clock to seal the win.

The first period was a scoreless affair as Vancouver totaled 17 shots on net while Minnesota managed just six.

The Wild got on the board halfway through the second period. Bouchard sent a quick shot on net from the right circle that Luongo stopped, but Rolston picked up the rebound and swept it into the net for his 15th goal of the season.

Vancouver answered just 40 seconds later as Burrows got the puck into the net on a wraparound from the right side for his fifth goal of the season.

However, Minnesota took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission as Bouchard skated down the left wing and slipped a quick wrister between the pads of Luongo with 7:24 left in the frame.
