Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Chris Mason made 22 saves for his third shutout of the season as the Nashville Predators dumped the slumping Calgary Flames, 3-0, at Sommet Center.
Martin Erat, J. P. Dumont and Ville Koistinen each had a goal for the Predators, who had lost three of four coming into the game.
Miikka Kiprusoff allowed three goals on 26 shots before being pulled in the third period for Curtis McElhinney, who stopped all 12 shots he faced for the Flames, who have dropped their last four games.
Before the game, it was reported by the Calgary Sun that Calgary has signed goaltender Curtis Joseph with an official announcement expected in the next 24-to-48 hours. The deal is pending league approval and Joseph passing a physical, according to a Flames spokesperson.
Neither side got on the scoreboard in the first period as Nashville had 10 shots on net and Calgary just six.
The Predators broke onto the scoreboard at the 11:34 mark of the second period. Radek Bonk made a behind the back pass from the left circle to Erat, who blasted a one-timer from the slot that beat Kiprusoff to the glove side.
Nashville made it a 2-0 game 3:29 later as Dumont scored his 17th goal of the campaign on a backhander from down low.
Mason stopped seven shots in the middle frame to keep Calgary off the board.
Koistinen made it a 3-0 contest just 59 seconds into the third period as his blast from the right point on the power play beat Kiprusoff for his second goal of the year.
