St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Brad Boyes netted two goals and Manny Legace made 25 stops to lead St. Louis over Dallas, 4-2, at Scottrade Center.
Legace learned earlier Thursday that he was selected to his first NHL All-Star competition, and became the seventh goaltender in Blues history to be so honored.
"It made me a little more nervous (for the game) because everyone's been bugging me all day calling me an All Star," admitted Legace. "It's been a team effort all year and I wish I could take the whole team with me because these guys have just been phenomenal and they were phenomenal in front of me tonight."
Paul Kariya added a goal and two assists and Keith Tkachuk also scored for the Blues, who have won four of five and have outscored the opposition 11-3 in their last three games.
Mike Ribeiro and Antti Miettinen lit the lamp for the Stars, who have dropped five of seven. Mike Smith took the loss, allowing all four goals on 26 shots.
Boyes netted his 22nd goal of the season 8:01 into the contest on a blistering slapshot from the bottom of the left circle just after a Dallas penalty expired.
Kariya ripped a wrister from the slot to the top-right corner with 5:38 left in the first for a 2-0 St. Louis advantage.
Ribeiro cut the Stars' deficit in half with his 22nd goal of the year at 3:46 of the second, but the Blues regained a two-goal edge when Kariya dished off to Tkachuk, who tipped a shot through Smith from the top of the crease at 9:35.
Boyes picked up his second of the game with 7:33 left in the period, finishing off a 2-on-1 with David Perron for a 4-1 St. Louis lead.
The Blues remained strong defensively in the third period, allowing 10 shots and few quality chances on Legace. Miettinen picked up a 5-on-3 power-play goal with 1:31 left in regulation, but St. Louis killed off the remaining disadvantage and picked up its third consecutive home win.
"[We] had some parts to the game where I thought we dominated but its hard. That's an adversity game for us, traveling," said Stars head coach Dave Tippett. "We didn't have enough players on board to pay the price to win tonight."
