NHL Game Summary - Pittsburgh at Florida

Final Score: Pittsburgh 3 - Florida 1

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Sidney Crosby's goal and one assist paced Pittsburgh to a 3-1 win over Florida in the back-end of a home-and-home set at BankAtlantic Center.

Petr Sykora and Georges Laraque also tallied for the Penguins, winners of a season-high seven in a row and nine of their last 11. The Pens blanked Florida, 3-0, in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

"We're playing some good hockey. We're playing pretty consistent," Crosby said of the recent surge. "We were able to get a few (goals) in bunches there. That never hurts. When you get a two or three goal lead, you don't want to say you take it for granted but at the same time we're really making sure we keep our foot on the gas and playing consistent."

Ty Conklin stopped 27-of-28 shots in the victory -- his eighth consecutive positive result -- though he saw his shutout streak end at 122 minutes, 58 seconds dating back to a 6-2 win over Toronto on January 3.

Greg Campbell picked up the lone goal for the Panthers, who have dropped five of six. Tomas Vokoun allowed three goals on 23 shots before giving way to Craig Anderson, who finished the game by stopping all 12 shots he faced.

A three-goal second-period burst sealed the win for Pittsburgh.

Shortly after a Florida goal was disallowed, Pittsburgh took advantage of a power-play when Panthers defenseman Ruslan Salei was whistled for hooking. Crosby fed the puck from behind the net to Sykora, who snuck a shot through Vokoun's pads at 10:05.

Crosby boosted the Pens to a 2-0 lead with 8:39 to play, when he stickhandled between a pair of Panthers just inside the offensive zone and beat Vokoun to the far side.

It was 3-0 less than two minutes later when tough guy Laraque netted his third of the season, and Vokoun was pulled for Anderson. The move failed to spark the struggling home team, however.

Campbell finally provided some offense for Florida with 4:10 left in regulation -- the club's first short-handed tally of the season.

"It's fair enough to say we deserve to get the blame but it took us 160 minutes to score one goal against a guy who's been in the minors all year," said Panthers captain Olli Jokinen. "I don't think we really tested him. Eleven shots after two periods. How many scoring chances? I don't know."

After a scoreless first, the Panthers had a potential first goal wiped out with 8:23 played in the second period, when Stephen Weiss accidentally kicked a loose puck into the net with his right skate.
