Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Roberto Luongo made 28 saves for his sixth shutout of the season as the Vancouver Canucks beat up the New York Rangers, 3-0, at General Motors Place.

Ryan Kesler, Jason Jaffray and Daniel Sedin each scored for the Canucks, who have won three of their last four games.

"I think it wasn't the prettiest first two periods that's for sure," said Luongo. "But we came out in the third, we played pretty good hockey. We were back to our style and we had some big goals."

Stephen Valiquette gave up three goals on 19 shots in the loss for the Rangers, who have dropped two straight.

"I felt comfortable all night," said Valiquette. "That game was a strong game for all of us. I don't think it was a game we can really hang our heads about. Everyone feels good right now. It's just a matter of putting wins together."

Neither team was able to score in the first period as Vancouver had five shots and New York nine.

Vancouver got on the scoreboard just 1:51 into the second period. On a broken play, Kesler threw a shot on net from a sharp angle at the right side and it squeezed past the right skate of Valiquette.

New York had its chances in the second as the team had 12 shots and three power plays, including a four minute advantage on a high sticking double-minor on Kesler, but were unable to get any past Luongo.

In the third period, the Canucks sealed the win with just 3:04 to play, as Sedin brought the puck into the New York end down the left wing, cut to the middle and used Dan Girardi as a screen to flick a wrister between the pads of Valiquette for a 2-0 advantage.

On the power play just 34 seconds later, Willie Mitchell's shot from the high slot was tipped in by Jaffray to wrap up the scoring in the game.
