NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Minnesota

Final Score: Dallas 3 - Minnesota 6

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Marian Gaborik scored twice and added an assist as the Minnesota Wild stormed past the Dallas Stars, 6-3, at XCel Energy Center.

Pierre-Marc Bouchard had a goal and two assists, while Pavol Demitra had a goal and a helper. Eric Belanger and Mark Parrish also tallied for the Wild, who have won three of four. Brent Burns assisted on three goals and Brian Rolston two, while Niklas Backstrom made 25 saves.

Stu Barnes, Steve Ott and Matt Niskanen all lit the lamp for Dallas, which has matched its season-high with a three-game skid. Marty Turco was pulled after allowing three goals on four shots, while Mike Smith stopped 14-of-17 the rest of the way.

"(It) was not a good start," said Stars veteran forward Mike Modano. "The first period was bad and I think it pretty much ended there. We did give a little bit of a push there in the second and had an opportunity to make it interesting, but scoring three or four goals on these guys is pretty tough."

Gaborik put the Wild on top with a short-handed goal near the midpoint of the first, as he broke in alone on Turco, avoided a pokecheck and a flipped a weak shot over the netminder.

Demitra struck a little more than a minute later when he buried a rebound chance, and about two minutes after that, Bouchard made it 3-0 when he sent a shot top-shelf from a hard angle.

Dallas finally cut into the lead with 5:53 left when Barnes took a pass across the slot from Nicklas Hagman and found the back of the cage.

With 1:28 remaining Gaborik one-timed a shot for his 21st of the year to make it 4-1. He then helped to create another score at 10:08 of the second, firing a shot on net during a power play that Belanger deflected past a screened Smith.

Dallas worked a quick give-and-go in the Wild zone to cut it to 5-2, as Ott came charging down the right wing and beat Backstrom with a backhander to the far side.

Niskanen then brought Dallas within two after he planted himself at the top of the crease and knocked a feed from Mike Ribeiro inside the near post with 1:39 left in the stanza.

Parrish put the game away when he ripped home a centering pass from Burns with 3:56 left in the contest.

"We let up for a couple minutes in the second period there and they kinda took it to us," said Parrish. "You know, it's nice to see us not fold up and not get frustrated, not panic and just relax and get back to playing our game and take control of it again in the third."
