Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Curtis Glencross scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner 2:03 into overtime, as Columbus topped Calgary, 4-3, at Pengrowth Saddledome.
The play which led to the game-winner was simple enough, with Blue Jackets defenseman Kris Russell dumping the puck to the right of the Calgary net. Kris Beech beat his checker to the disc, and fed back into the slot, where Glencross fought off a defender and tipped it home.
"It's a dream come true, playing back here at home, then getting the game- winner," said Glencross. "I can't think of anything better. To do it in front of family and friends, it's awesome. I came off the bench went right down the ice, and got a great pass from Beechie."
Beech and Nikolai Zherdev also hit the net for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a two-game slide. Fredrik Norrena made 33 stops to earn the win.
Jarome Iginla, Daymond Langkow and Adrian Aucoin each registered a goal and one assist for the Flames, losers of four straight and six of eight. Miikka Kiprusoff allowed four goals on 26 shots, taking his fifth loss in seven starts.
"When you're winning and not playing well, guys can tell what's coming, but when you go the other way and play well but lose, it's a bit tougher to rebound," Iginla said. "A lot of us have been here and know that if you keep working hard, you get on a roll."
Zherdev's sizzling wrister off a faceoff win put the Jackets up 1-0. Mike Peca won the right-circle draw back to Rick Nash, who slid the puck over to Zherdev for a one-timer at the 8:20 mark. Glencross made it 2-0 for Columbus with less than a minute to go on his fourth of the season.
Calgary finally hit the scoreboard with the man advantage midway through the second, when Aucoin's left-circle drive was deflected home by Langkow.
Iginla's 14th goal of the season knotted the game, 2-2, with 4:43 before intermission. The tally came after a lengthy review determined his poke through a mass of bodies in the crease made it over the goal line before the net was dislodged.
The Blue Jackets took a 3-2 lead on a fluke play 4:07 into the third. Beech turned from the right boards into the right circle, and tried to pass across to a teammate waiting on the left side. The puck caught Flames forward Alex Tanguay's stick in the slot, changed direction, and slipped through Kiprusoff's pads.
Only 15 seconds later, Aucoin's flip from the right point ticked off Jackets defenseman Adam Foote and trickled past Norrena for a 3-3 game.
