NHL Game Summary - Chicago at St. Louis

Final Score: Chicago 1 - St. Louis 3

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - D.J. King's second-period goal proved to be the game-winner, as St. Louis defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-1, at the Scottrade Center.

Lee Stempniak and Mike Johnson also lit the lamp for the Blues, who have won six straight on home ice and four of five overall. Hannu Toivonen finished the game with 17 saves.

Robert Lang scored the only goal for Chicago, which had its two-game winning streak snapped. Patrick Lalime allowed three goals on 26 shots in the loss.

Stempniak put the Blues ahead 1-0 just over three minutes into the game. He walked around defenseman James Vandermeer at the right circle, drove hard to the net and lifted a backhander past Lalime.

"I was lucky I got the shot where I wanted it," said Stempniak. "It slid under Patty's arm (Patrick Lalime) as he was leaning. It's good to get a goal in back-to-back games." Stempniak also scored during Friday's 3-2 overtime loss at Minnesota.

King's first goal of the season made it 2-0 at the 4:13 mark of the second period. He unleashed a quick wrister from the right faceoff dot that beat Lalime through the five-hole.

Johnson gave the Blues a 3-0 cushion with 6:40 remaining in the middle frame when he one-timed a rolling puck over the glove of Lalime.

Lang broke the shutout just past the midway point of the third period. He was streaking down the right wing and fired a perfectly place wrister below the crossbar on the stick-side of Toivonen.

"We didn't create much in the first two (periods)," said Chicago coach Denis Savard. "In the third, we're down three nothing, obviously we start playing (harder) and got lots of good chances, but it's too late."
