(1-W) Detroit Red Wings (2-1) at (2-E) Pittsburgh Penguins (1-2), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to even the best-of-seven Stanley Cup finals tonight, when they host the Detroit Red Wings in Game 4 at Mellon Arena.

The Red Wings dominated Pittsburgh in Games 1 and 2 in Motown, shutting out the high-powered Penguins in both games. However, the Penguins charged back with a victory in Wednesday's contest in the Steel City to cut the series deficit to 2-1.

After Detroit and veteran goaltender Chris Osgood blanked the normally prolific Pens in the first two games, Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby got his team's offense back on track in Game 3 at the Igloo.

Crosby notched two goals, his club's first two tallies of the series, to help the Penguins edge the Red Wings by a 3-2 count. "Sid the Kid" has 23 points (6 goals, 17 assists) in the playoffs, tying him with Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg for the postseason scoring lead.

Adam Hall also recorded a goal for the Penguins, who are in the finals for the first time since winning the second of back-to-back titles in 1992. It was Pittsburgh's first victory in a Stanley Cup finals game since ending a series sweep against Chicago on June 1, 1992.

Marian Hossa collected two assists for Pittsburgh, which is 9-0 at home in the playoffs and 17-0 at Mellon Arena since a 2-1 shootout loss to San Jose on February 24th.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 32-of-34 shots to earn the win and improve to 13-4 in this year's postseason. Fleury, who missed significant time during the regular season due to a high ankle sprain, hasn't lost in Pittsburgh since dropping a 2-1 decision to New Jersey on November 21.

Johan Franzen and Mikael Samuelsson scored for the Red Wings, while Chris Osgood allowed three goals on 24 shots in defeat.

Franzen has 13 goals and four assists in 13 playoff games this year. He regained the goal-scoring lead from Zetterberg, who has 12 tallies in the postseason.

Osgood had his Cup finals' shutout streak halted at 137 minutes and 25 seconds and fell to 12-3 in the postseason. The three goals surrendered equalled the total amount of tallies surrendered by Osgood in his previous four outings combined.

Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom injured a hamstring in Game 3 and is questionable for tonight. Holmstrom, who plays on Detroit's top line with Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, has four goal and eight assists in this year's playoffs.

Pittsburgh was the best home team in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, going 26-10-5 at the Igloo.

The Red Wings were one of the best road teams in the NHL during the regular season, posting a 25-12-4 mark away from Michigan. Detroit is 5-4 as the visiting club in the playoffs.

The series will head back to Detroit for Game 5, which is scheduled for Monday night at Joe Louis Arena.

The Red Wings came into this series as the favorites, having won the Presidents' Trophy as the team with the best record in the NHL during the regular season. Pittsburgh was the Atlantic Division champion and the second- seeded team in the Eastern Conference.

Both teams took impressive paths to the Cup finals this year, as the Penguins rolled through the Eastern Conference playoffs with a 12-2 record and Detroit claimed the West championship by winning 12 of 16 games. The Red Wings even set a franchise record at one point with nine consecutive victories this postseason.

Detroit defeated Nashville in six games during the opening round, swept Colorado in the following series, and beat Dallas in six tests of the conference finals.

The Penguins swept Ottawa in the first round and defeated the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers in five games during the conference semifinals and finals, respectively.
