(5) Dallas Stars (1-0) at (2) San Jose Sharks (0-1), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars will try to take a 2-0 series lead on the road tonight, when they visit the second-seeded San Jose Sharks for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals at HP Pavilion.

The Sharks won the Pacific Division crown this year and posted a franchise- record 108 points. The Stars, who are seeded fifth, finished 11 points behind San Jose in the Pacific, but were able to post a dramatic victory in Friday's Game 1 matchup at the Shark Tank.

Brenden Morrow scored 4:39 into overtime, as Dallas edged the Sharks, 3-2, in the opener of the best-of-seven series.

In the extra session, Mike Ribeiro whipped a cross-ice pass to a pinching Stephane Robidas on the right side. Robidas held onto the puck, circled behind the goal before sliding the disc to Mattias Norstrom at the left point. The veteran defenseman then sent a pass to Morrow, whose one-timer from the middle of the right circle beat a scrambling Evgeni Nabokov on the short-side.

Morrow, the Stars' captain, finished with two goals and leads Dallas with five tallies in this year's postseason.

Mike Modano also lit the lamp for Dallas, which ousted the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks in six games in the quarterfinals. The Ducks also finished ahead of the Stars in the Pacific standings with 102 points.

Ribeiro collected two assists and Marty Turco stopped 25-of-27 shots to pick up the win.

Turco has been excellent in the playoffs this year, going 5-2 with a stingy 1.98 goals against average and solid .915 save percentage. The defense in front of Turco has also been strong, as Dallas has surrendered an average of just 23.4 shots per game in the postseason.

The Stars played without Sergei Zubov once again, as the veteran defenseman is still trying to recover from a sports hernia. Zubov, who has been out since late January, has begun to skate with the team and is questionable for tonight's game. Zubov, who has 111 points in 153 career playoff games, has won two Stanley Cup titles, one with the New York Rangers in 1994 and another with Dallas in '99.

Jonathan Cheechoo and Milan Michalek scored for the Sharks, while Nabokov allowed three goals on 18 shots in defeat.

San Jose was coming off a grueling first-round series against Calgary that ended Tuesday night with the Sharks' 5-3 home victory in the decisive Game 7.

The regular-season series between Dallas and San Jose was extremely close with each team winning four games. Dallas has won both of its playoff meetings with the Sharks, with the most recent victory coming in five games during the 2000 conference semifinals.

San Jose was better on the road than at the Shark Tank this season, but the Sharks still had a solid 22-13-6 record as the hosts. Dallas was 22-14-5 as the visiting club.
