(2) San Jose Sharks (3-2) at (7) Calgary Flames (2-3), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The second-seeded San Jose Sharks will try to clinch their Western Conference quarterfinal series tonight, when they visit the Calgary Flames for Game 6 at the Saddledome.

The seventh-seeded Flames held a two games to one lead in this series, but San Jose has rallied for two straight wins to push Calgary to the brink of elimination. The Flames are 0-3 in their last three games when facing postseason elimination.

The Sharks, champions of the Pacific Division, won both Games 4 and 5 by one- goal margins. San Jose notched a 3-2 victory Tuesday in Calgary and followed up with a 4-3 triumph two days later at the Shark Tank.

Jonathan Cheechoo scored twice to help the Sharks take a 3-2 series' lead on Thursday.

Joe Pavelski and Patrick Marleau each had a goal and assist for San Jose, while Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 33-of-36 shots in the win.

Jarome Iginla finished with a goal and an assist for Calgary and Dion Phaneuf added two helpers. Daymond Langkow and David Moss also tallied in the setback.

Miikka Kiprusoff gave up all four goals on 26 shots, as his rough series continued. Kiprusoff has posted a lofty 3.47 goals against average and .903 save percentage, while giving up 14 goals on 145 shots.

San Jose already had a one-goal edge going into Thursday's third period, but Cheechoo recorded his two markers in the first nine minutes of the frame to stake the Sharks to a commanding lead.

With the Sharks swarming around the net, a backhander bounced off the left post, leaving the puck in the middle of the crease. At the same time, Kiprusoff lost his balance and fell onto his backside, with the puck near the crease and several diving bodies around him. As all of that was going on, Cheechoo raced in from near the right circle and shoveled the loss puck into the net at 4:52, for a 3-1 San Jose lead.

Just 3:30 later, he scored again after going on a 2-on-1 rush with Marleau, who sent a pass from the left circle to the right. Cheechoo then ripped a slap shot over Kiprusoff to extend his team's lead to three goals.

The Flames scored the final two goals of the game and pulled within one of the lead on Iginla's tally with 1:16 left. However, that was a far as the comeback attempt would go.

Calgary was 21-11-9 as the hosts this year, while the Sharks were the best road team in the NHL during the regular season, going 27-10-4 as the visiting club.

If necessary, Game 7 of this series will take place Tuesday night in San Jose.

The Flames won the season series against the Sharks this year, going 3-1-0 against them.

Calgary and San Jose have also split a pair of playoff series in their histories. The Sharks beat Calgary in seven games during the 1995 conference quarters, and the Flames posted a 4-2 series victory in the 2004 West finals.
