(Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames continue their season-ending four-game road trip tonight, as they visit the Edmonton Oilers and Rexall Place.
The Flames are struggling down the stretch, as they have lost three of their last four games including the opener of this trip on Sunday. David Moss and Matthew Lombardi tallied for Calgary in its 6-2 loss to Vancouver.
Miikka Kiprusoff had a horrid night, as he allowed four goals on just 13 shots. Curtis Joseph made 18 saves in relief.
Calgary played on Sunday without Daymond Langkow, who was not with the team due to the death of his father-in-law. He is expected to play in tonight's game. Also, Craig Conroy left Sunday's game due to an upper body injury and is questionable for this test, as is Mark Smith (head).
Despite their recent struggles, the Flames can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a win and a regulation loss by Nashville, which plays in St. Louis.
With 90 points, Calgary also still has an outside shot of catching first-place Minnesota (95 points) in the Northwest Division, but needs help to do so. The Flames are also seventh overall in the West, two points up on eighth-seeded Vancouver and a point behind Colorado for sixth in the conference.
Calgary has lost five of its last six on the road, where it is 19-18-1 this season. The Flames still have visits to Minnesota and Vancouver left on the trek.
The Oilers will also be scoreboard watching tonight, as they are 10th in the West, two points back of Vancouver, which has a game in hand over Edmonton. The Oilers halted a two-game losing streak on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Calgary.
Dustin Penner notched the game-winning goal midway through the third period and Denis Grebeshkov also scored for the Oilers. Dwayne Roloson earned the win with 31 saves.
Defenseman Joni Pitkanen is questionable for tonight's game due to a groin injury sustained in the second period of Saturday's victory.
Lombardi scored the lone goal for Calgary, while Kiprusoff made 19 saves.
Edmonton plays its final home game of the season tonight, and is 23-16-1 as the host this year. The Oilers, who have won four of their last five as the host, end the season in Vancouver on Thursday.
Tonight will be the eighth and final meeting between these two clubs this season. The Oilers hold a 4-3-0 edge, but the Flames have won seven of the last 12 in the series.
