San Jose Sharks (46-21-10) at Anaheim Ducks (44-26-8), 10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks will try to clinch the Pacific Division for the first time in three seasons tonight, as they battle the second-place Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center.

The Sharks have 102 points with five games left to play, while the Ducks own 96 points with four tests remaining. Both teams have already clinched a playoff spot, but San Jose can pick up a division title with a win tonight.

San Jose last captured the Pacific crown in 2003-04, the last season before the lockout, and lost in the conference finals that season. The Sharks have finished second in the division in each of the last two years.

However, San Jose has lost five of seven versus Anaheim this year (2-2-3) and nine of its last 13 against the defending Stanley Cup champions. The Sharks have lost three of five and five of their last eight trips to Anaheim.

San Jose is rolling down the stretch, as it is 15-0-2 in its last 17 games overall. The Sharks have not lost in regulation since February 20 and defeated Dallas, 3-2, in overtime on Thursday night.

Situated with a 5-on-3 advantage, Joe Thornton scored his second goal of the night with 2:02 left in overtime to lift San Jose. Thornton has six goals over his last three games to give him 26 on the season and 91 points. His 65 assists are tops in the NHL this year.

Joe Pavelski also tallied in regulation and Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves for his league-leading 44th win of the season. The victory assured the Sharks home-ice advantage in the first round of the postseason.

However, forward Jonathan Cheechoo missed his second straight game with a sore head and neck. He has 22 goals and 14 assists in 68 games this season.

San Jose has won nine of its last 10 road games and is 26-8-4 as the visitor this year. Three of the Sharks' final five games of the season will be on the road.

The Sharks face a tough task tonight in facing the Ducks at home. Anaheim has won a franchise-record 10 straight at home and are 26-8-4 at the Honda Center this year.

Anaheim hasn't tasted defeat as the host since February 15, and kicked off a three-game homestand with a 2-1 shootout win over Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Teemu Selanne and Mathieu Schneider both scored in the shootout, and Jonas Hiller was sensational at the other end with 31 saves. Bobby Ryan had the lone goal in regulation for the Ducks, who tied their franchise mark for home victories set in 2005-06 and matched last season.

The Ducks have now won two straight and six of their last eight games overall.

Hiller was again filling in for Jean-Sebastien Giguere (back spasms). Giguere hasn't played in the last three games, while Ryan Getzlaf missed his second straight game due to an upper-body injury.

Anaheim will host Dallas on Sunday.
